Recently I have had the fun of trying to set up port forwarding on my router. There is a lot of documentation on the internet, but most of the time the issue of the IP address just happens to be skipped. Routers seem to need that IP address otherwise they would not know where to do the routing to.
To set up Port Forwarding, you actually need to set up a Virtual Server on the router. Then all that is required is the IP address (usually the IP address of your own PC or server that hosts a specific service), the port range (Lan Bridger uses port 40001) and the protocol which is All,TCP or UDP. What helps a huge amount is the tool for checking if your settings are correct which can be foudn on the Port Forwarding website

Hi there-- I'm one of the developers of LAN Bridger and I'd like to let you know that we're adding UPnP and NAT-PMP support in the next release, 0.9.9b.
ReplyDeleteAssuming your router supports one of the two, you won't need to manually mess with port forwarding for LAN Bridger ever again.
0.9.9b is in testing right now. If you'd like to try a test copy, please feel free to drop by the discussion forums ( at http://www.lanbridger.com/discuss/ ) and send one of the forum admins a private message.
Hope you still find LAN Bridger useful.
Cheers!
