Getting new masks

Recently a couple of my eye masks either got too damaged to be of use, or were never returned (cannot even get hold of those people). On Tuesday, I went to a local costume maker who is busy making new masks. Normally she makes fancy clothing for trance parties, amongst some DJ related work. The quote came today. I am looking forward to the end results... :)

Today, a message came from the post office to fetch a package which I have been waiting for, for a long time. The tracking system of the post office didn't work, otherwise I would have known about it, unless of course it only went today through the system, but wasn't recorded yet. The package should contain five realistic masks from Greyland Film.

Movie review: Poseidon

Last night I went to watch Poseidon in the Cinema, just to check if it was as bad as the movie review website Pajiba said it was was.
Quite interesting, but predictable. I cannot believe, that Hollywood script writers still add these sections where kids do something really stupid on their own after having seen what can happen.

The rest of the movie was entertaining. It shows what ship designs are lacking.
Overall, the cruise was an exiting trip. Good for when you don't want to watch a "thinking" movie.

Updating website and new costumes coming soon

I am in the process of adding a booking form to my costume renting website. The available costumes section will be split into pieces to display he costumes by category. This is partially due to the next bunch of costumes that are being made locally. Importing licensed characters from overseas is becoming too expensive and the list of choices is becoming small.

Various things

On Saturday (10 June 2006), I had a chat with the people from RE/MAX de kloof real estate property about their promotion at the traffic light in Monte Vista. I was mostly interested in standing there as a character. They had somebody doing that, but sooner or later, that person might not be able to do that. It turned out that the person doing that work at the time was already a replacement. I wanted to get experience on how to do that kind of thing for my own costume renting business which I am running from home outside of my office hours.

On Sunday, I stood dressed at Batman together with the Remax people to hand out business cards. The red and green traffic lights quickly became an annoyance. The Batman utility belt that I bought additionally for that costume came in handy, since I could store my stack of 120 business cards and my car keys. The lady portraying the Remax character was quite interested in doing something like that again, since she enjoys dressing up. I also found out, that Leza and Rony Botha from Remax seem to know my father. Next month they will be doing something like that again. Apparently that character costume tends to make the shoulders a bit sore. Half of the arm is inside of the main bulk of the costume. Now I am considering something like that with my company name on it for advertising purposes, since handing out business cards is only seen by those who actually get the cards.

On Monday morning I fell down on a staircase and hit my back badly. I am still feeling that pain today but it is not as bad as it was.

Yesterday evening I went to visit a lady whom I haven't visited for a long time. She showed me her new car, and we went driving to a few shops. She just needs a bit more experience, then she will drive a lot better as she gets more comfortable doing so.
